Pearl is a queen of all gems! Valued and belowed since prehistoric times, it remains to this day a symbol of something rare, valuable and fine. They are organic and form inside a mollusk. When an irritant enters inside the mollusk the soft tissue protects itself by coating it with nacre and pearl forms over time. In nature it happens accidentaly so those pearls are rare. Nowdays all pearls, weather freshwater or saltwater, are cultured (farmed). Skilled technicians jumpstart the natural process by carefully inserting the nucleus, usually the polished mother of pearl, into the living mollusk and release it back into the pristinely clean waters for it to grow a pearl around it. They daily tend to and monitor mollusks and water health until pearls are ready for harvest.
